Albums Overview
The Wrong Tram
I remain proud that my latest Album, “The Wrong Tram” was voted “ Album Of the Year – Traditional “ at the Australian Folk Music Awards in 2023. As one of five Nominees in that category, I managed to impress 50 (anonymous) Folk Music Judges from around the Nation.
Featuring another 14 Original Barry Skipsey songs, The Wrong Tram was released in March of 2023. Recorded, mixed and co-produced by my good friend Ross Muir here in Alice Springs, we were ably supported by no fewer than twenty session players and two local choirs. It may have taken four years to produce, but I could not be any happier with the outcome of this long awaited release. I invite you to have a listen to 30 seconds of these 14 songs. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Let Your Spirit Fly
Let Your Spirit Fly was Recorded and Produced by Hugh McDonald in 1995. As a Songwriter, these 14 songs cover my leaving the Big Smoke of Melbourne as a young man, to the colour and character of my Outback working life and my early years learning how to be a half decent Father. Don’t waste a day folks, for as I say in the lyrics of the title track, ‘Let Your Spirit Fly’, or you may just find you’re dead, long before you die.
Aust Outback Classic
Australian Outback Classics is a blend of 12 songs. Six being my own and six well-known Australiana songs, including Waltzing Matilda. It was Recorded and Produced here in Alice Springs for my National & International Tourism related audiences in 2010. It features five songs that can also be found on my Album Let Your Spirit Fly. My song, ‘The Legendary Ghan’, has proven to be a fun song to teach my audiences over the years with everyone singing, “ALL Aboard”. The Ghan is a World renowned Train Journey from Adelaide in the South, to the NT Capital , Darwin in the North.
N.T. Road
NT Road was my very first Album. It was produced and recorded by Bob Barford of Centre Trax Studio’s, here in Alice Springs in 1983. As a Singer-Songwriter, I remain proud of this first effort. It was released on Warren Fahey’s Larrikin Records. Sadly it is No Longer available and appears here for historic reasons only. Plus the fact that I like to look at myself (and my Bully mate ‘Bosun’ on the cover) as a Much Younger man, LOL. I have recently re-recorded a couple of my favorite songs from this original LP as I felt they deserved New life, that may attract a New and younger audience? I live in hope. Those songs feature on my latest 2022 release, The Wrong Tram.
